Four more days, four more days, four more days.

Dear People That Drive Me Mental,

Here is something to think about:

While you may be completely anal about maintaining your 94% average, an 80% on one physics exam is hardly cause for concern. I understand that you like to do well, and I know that if I got an 80% on an English exam when I had been getting 90's all semester, I'd be a little upset, too but but BUT I would not complain to the entire world. I would not walk down the hallways after class saying very loudly,
"Oh my god, I like totally failed that test, I only got an 80%, I have to study harder next time, I have to start studying for the diploma right this very second because if I don't I will fail, fail, fail and my life will be over," because absolutely none of that is even the tiniest bit close to the truth. The truth being that I did not fail, that I, in fact, did rather well and outside of my overachiever brain, I would be able to see that and so would anybody else. And you should start to see it, too or at the very least you should learn to contain your verbal vomit on the subject because some people don't have 94% in physics. Some people are working their butts off to maintain a 75 and just when they begin to feel like a 75 is not the end of the world and is in fact a very respectable grade in a course as difficult as Physics 30, you have to open your completely inconsiderate mouth and convince them otherwise.

And also, it really doesn't matter. Whether you finish the course with a 90 or a 70, chances are you are still going to get into university. The only thing freaking out in between classes is going to give you is ULCERS. Chill the hell out. The world is bigger than high school. The world is bigger than numbers and percents and averages and outside of the brick walls of ABJ, your 94% in physics holds very little weight. And the fact that you can't see that, that you can't go five seconds without comparing or calculating or alienating everyone around you by passing judgement on anybody who is not as completely perfect as you are does not say great things about your potential to succeed in the outside world. Sure you know quantum theory but who the heck cares when nobody will talk to you because you make them feel stupid and flighty and inferior every time you open your mouth?

Your standards are high. I get it. And I get that you're worried, I'm worried too. We're all worried. This is a big year. But please just get it through your head that you are smart and hard-working and talented and quit trying to validate it by making everybody else question their own abilities because it's annoying and condescending and it won't be long before you have nobody around to talk to, and you'll be validating your shaky self-esteem to a wall.

Sincerely,
Hailey.

That sounds all too familiar. I swear we live parallel lives!! It's nuts
