There must be something in the water.

Dear Universe,

Sometimes I think you're really not that bad, like when you give me enough time to escape from hell-froze-over school and warm myself up with a nonfat vanilla latte from Starbucks. Thank you for nonfat vanilla lattes. Thank you, also, for the reading comprehension exam and the way the stories made me giggle out loud in the middle of the test, and the way I felt like I was living comfortably in book-land the entire time, instead of in oh-my-lord-I-don't-know-the-answer land, which is where I usually reside. Thank you for lovely people who sit quietly and study next to me in the library, and good friends who take me home with them during lunch hour to watch movies in between exams. Thank you for mom's who pick up new socks for me, and dad's who never let me worry too much about money, and brothers who teach me how to use photoshop and answer my five-million stupid questions without ever slugging me in the head. Thanks for the kid I saw today, the one with the mohawk and the t-shirt that said "Reading is for awesome people." If you could somehow find another one of those t-shirts and strategically place it in the next store I walk into, that would be wonderful. Thanks for pyjamas and warm beds and big plans and trains. Thank you for libraries and notebooks and tiny tin boxes and shampoo that smells like rainforest. Thank you for purple and ponytails and nice ladies with german accents, and morning time and bus rides and fruit.

Yeah, okay. So maybe you're more than just not-so-bad.

Maybe you're awesome.

Love,
Hailey
