Are You Dead or Are You Sleeping?
I sure hope you are dead.

Am sick as dog.

Spent all of Wednesday not being able to breathe through nose. Then spent all of yesterday sniffling and sneezing until cows came home. Not to mention, had gone all watery-eyed so looked like I was crying even though I was not.

Came home from school and immediately fell asleep on couch. Stayed asleep from 5:30 to 9:00..waking only to move from couch to bed, and to answer phone.

Now, that is a lot of sleep for one person. One would suppose that thanks to gargantuan afternoon nap of three and half hours, one would not be able to sleep at night. One would be v. v. wrong about this. Did homework from 9:30 until 11:00, and then proceeded to lay in bed, writing in journal and reading and whatnot. Was having difficulty falling asleep at first, but soon was snoring soundly like elderly person.

Woke up at 6:30 in morning, determined to go to school, only to discover that head was throbbing intensely and that nose was in no condition to venture out of cozy house. After minor anxiety attack regarding homework, was sent straight back to bed by doting mother. Was strangely wide awake at this time, but lay in bed anyway, because felt guilty about missing school and thought that if was asleep, must somehow obviously be sick enough to warrant sick day. Was asleep within 10 minutes of crawling back into bed. Did not wake up again until 1:20 in afternoon. (!!) Was awakened by phone ringing - was doting mother calling to see if was still alive and not dead or kidnapped or knocked unconcious by overdose of Dimetapp.

So, in conclusion:

Hours spent sleeping after school = approx. 3 and half
Hours spent sleeping at night = approx. 6
Hours spent sleeping during day = approx. 7

Grand total of hours spent sleeping = 16.5 hours.

Lordy. Am sleeping machine. All hail Queen of the Nap.

(ps - have been reading Bridget Jones' Diary, which may provide insight as to why am insisting on typing in ridiculous shorthand.)
