Q:Who Loves Dance Competitions?
A:Meeeeeeeeeeeee
Current:
Music:New Mother Nature by Guess Who
Pain-in-the-@$$:My shinnnnn! Owwwww.
Hairstyle:French braids as per usual (well, usual this weekend, anyway)
Thing I Really Should be Doing:my enormous pile of homework.
I spent all of friday and half of today competing at the Cheremosh festival. It was a lot of fun, and we did quite well considering:
a)It was our first time preforming all of the dances that we competed with.
b)It was our first time competing together as an ensemble. Ever.
We did two group dances, a Zakarpat'skyi Chardash and a Volyn dance (called Volyn'ska Hulianochka...which I think means something about a party. Well, Zabava means party...but hulianochka means something similar I think. Oh I don't remember...he explained it once... Anyway, the dance is supposed to be really energetic and happy and stuff.) We got a 92% (G) on the first one and a 91% (G) on the second one. I was pretty proud of us :) :) :) I also was part of a Transcarpathian trip. We got an 89% (S) on that one...which was a little bit disappointing but I'm still pretty proud of us :) It was a lot of fun. One of the moms taped it, and we were pretty surprised at how much better it looked that we'd expected, and I think thats better than any medal.
On a sadder note, I had to miss out on the Young Scientists conference to dance. But it was like choosing between two REALLYREALLYREALLY awesome things - you win and lose either way. I had comitted myself to dancing long before the conference, though, and I think it reallyreallyreally was worth it to dance. I had the best time ever, and I love my group and I love preforming and I love watching other people preform and AHHHH.
Yesterday I spent three hours volunteering backstage at the festival. That was super-fun - but wow do your feet get sore. Hehe. There were some girls there who had started working at 8:00 in the morning, and worked until the festival ended for the day. And then they came back the next morning and did it all over again. Crazy. My friend and I decided that if it works out, we're going to try and take on more shifts next year. It'll be fun. I love competitions. hehehe.
My shin hurts. A lot.
I'm going to go and do something...like sleep. (I'm aware that it's like 8:30 in the evening...but you have no idea how tired I am.)
