This is part of one of my favourite songs of all time. It's called "Paper Bag" by Fiona Apple. These are just the parts that I liked. I bolded my favourites, but you need everything to get the whole effect of the song. Some parts I like more than others. But I needed to post it because I'M STUCK IN ANOTHER POETRY RUT AND IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!
I was staring at the sky Just looking for a star To pray on, Or wish on, Or something like that. I was having a sweet fix Of a daydream of a boy Who, in reality I knew Was hopeless to be had But then the Dove of hope Began it's downward slope And I believed for a moment that My chances were Approaching to be grabbed. But as it came down near, So did a weary tear. I thought it was a bird But it was just a paper bag.
And then there's some chorus-y bits and then...
And I went crazy again today Looking for a strand to climb Looking for A little hope. Baby said he couldn't stay Wouldn't put his lips to mine A fail to kiss is a fail to cope. I said, "Honey, I don't feel so good. Don't feel justified" Come on, put a little love here in my void. He said, "It's all in your head. I said, "So's everything." But he didn't get it. I thought he was a man But he was just a little boy.
I think it's lovely. Her writing is so perfect. I want to write like that. Exactly like that. Aaaaaaagh!.
In other news:My archives aren't working, or, they weren't the last time I checked, and that bothered me because whenever I run out of space everything that I wrote will simply vanish and I don't want it to.
